Fight of Faith

1 Timothy 6:12

Fight the good fight of faith, lay hold on eternal life, to which you were also called and have confessed the good confession in the presence of many witnesses.

In the Bible, as followers of Jesus, we are reminded that the fight of life is about fighting for what we believe in. It is not about our actions, for what we do always follow what we believe. For us, it is about fighting against the wrong beliefs we have about God or people or circumstances around us.

We are also keenly aware that what keeps us together as humanity is to believe in unity and resilience to overcome the adversity around us in the current climate surrounding us.

My prayer is that when you look at this art that I have created, you will always have faith in humankind and be reminded that God fights alongside us.

Gethsemane

Then Jesus came with them to a place called Gethsemane, and said to the disciples, “Sit here while I go and pray over there.” …Then He said to them, “My soul is exceedingly sorrowful, even to death. Stay here and watch with Me.” (Matthew 26:36-38)

Whenever I read this portion of scripture, I simply cannot imagine what went through our Lord’s mind. Gethsemane means oil press and how apt that it is at this place that the LORD was “pressed” on every side, exceedingly sorrowful.  Yeshua, He is also the all-knowing God. Thus, Gethsamane was not only on His mind that night, it was a destiny He knew once He is of understanding. This artwork depicts how in Yeshua’s whole life, His destiny to be “pressed”, scourged and to die for us weighs on His mind.  And the start of that cup begins in the Garden of Gethsamane. I placed a special emphasis on His eyes to portray His compassion for us and how determined He was to be our sacrifice to redeem us.
