Hope

There are 4 crosses that depict Christians’ individual walk in the manner of “carrying our own cross”. This means that each Christian would have his/her own cross to carry, in terms of “carrying” own challenges and uncertainties especially in this current pandemic situation, which affects the economy and livelihoods of many people. However, when we continue to focus on the cross that represents Jesus Christ who died for our sins, we can have hope and faith in our Abba Father.

 Livelihood

The typewriter was used to be an important working instrument for people to make a decent livelihood. It was a simple and yet a powerful instrument that nobody can deny it’s usefulness and significance.

NATURAL SELECTION

Darwin’s scientific theory of the evolution of species through natural selection starts from the premise that an organism’s traits vary in a non-deterministic way from parent to offspring. The “Generation Z” toddler depicts her genealogy and the evolution towards her future. “Generation Z” also represents the last alphabet of the flashcard. Natural selection is conditions (or “nature”) that determine (or “select”) how well particular traits of organisms can serve the survival and reproduction of the organism. The prevailing conditions of the toddler are represented by “Icons” in each flashcard of the painting. Collectively, they form the “Ecology” which surrounds her. Natural selection does not distinguish between ecological selection and sexual selection, as it is concerned with traits, on which both may operate simultaneously. The artist feels that the near-term goal is to ensure that the toddler’s or Generation Z’s traits can interact and withstand the “Ecology” through the means of good education represented by the “Flashcards.” The form of good education encompasses not only good educators but also significant parental role in the family domains.
