CHENG.MING-CHU(1995-)

In today’s society, lifestyles have changed, and so have people’s values. The civilization of industry and commerce is advancing rapidly, and people are busy, confused, and blind every day. Everything is changing rapidly, leaving people feeling lost. Some works of art have embraced the trend of being innovative and unique, but the central ideas and values of these works are often overlooked. They reflect the current reality of people’s lives – the pursuit of “fame and fortune,” but fail to capture the greatest driving forces of life, “love” and “family bonds.”

As a mother, the process of raising children has been the most touching period of my life. Children embody “truth, goodness, and beauty,” and their innocence, kindness, and sensitivity to beautiful things surpass our own. That is why I have chosen “children” as the subject of my creations.

Wisdom
2008
Silk scroll、Colored ink
116 x 70cm

Inscription:
My child, if you receive my words and store up my commands within you, listening closely to wisdom and directing your heart to understanding; if you indeed call out for insight and raise your voice for understanding; if you seek it like silver and search for it as for hidden treasures, then you will understand the fear of the LORD and find the knowledge of God.

Creative Philosophy:
Any item around a child can become their toy and also influence their future values. Therefore, this becomes one of the most important tasks for parents.

Artwork Analysis:
The use of empty space as a symbol of sky, earth, water, and distant scenery not only expands the boundaries of the painting but also broadens the viewer’s perspective. Certain parts can even assist in evoking thoughts and understanding the implicit meaning beyond the painted surface. The presence of “blank space” is an important factor in creating the peaceful and elegant atmosphere often seen in Chinese ink painting.

Inscription:
The LORD established the earth with wisdom, and established the sky with understanding. With knowledge, he opened the abyss and made the sky drop dew.

Creative Philosophy:
Babies seem to be looking for things from morning to night, from the smallest hair to the largest object, they are all objects of exploration, they will touch and lick to satisfy their curiosity.

Artwork Analysis:
The feeling of equal quantity, this is balance. Balance is widely used in painting, and it is also a very important structural rule. A “balanced” picture means that it has a good configuration. In other words, the shape, direction, position and other elements of form are properly arranged on the screen and cannot be moved at all. This screen is composed of parts. The so-called direction here means that two objects in the picture will also generate gravitational attraction to each other. The weight of the objects in the picture is firstly dominated by the invisible force field, coupled with the mutual attraction between the various objects, resulting in the direction of motion, so this force field also becomes a factor that determines the balance of the picture. Circles, although somewhat far apart, can combine to form another group. Use three circles from large to small to imply the depth of space.

Confidence、Hope. Love

Inscription:
From my mother’s womb into your hands, from my mother’s birth, you are my God.

Creative Philosophy:

With the background of “Jesus loves children” in the Bible, the child in the picture seems to be full of confidence and hope to tell us that I have found the source of love.

Artwork Analysis:

The gestures of the children in the front of the painting and the gestures of Jesus in the background form a balanced composition on the screen. Equilibrium, also known as balance, is a more beautiful and lively form than symmetry when used in plastic arts. Balance means that with one axis as the center, the weight of the objects on both sides feels the same, but the form is different.

Childlike innocence and sand making
2007
Silk scroll、Colored ink
143 x 83 cm

Inscription:
The cauldron refines silver, and the furnace refines gold; but the LORD refines the heart.

Creative Philosophy:

Nature is a child’s toy, just the sand on the seashore can make children play happily and pile up endlessly. But the naughty sea water washed away the fortress that the child had built up over and over again, and finally the child couldn’t help protesting.

Play circle
2008
Silk scroll、Colored ink
182 x 95 cm

Creative Philosophy:
From children’s games, we can find that they don’t need expensive toys, the simpler and more natural they are, the happier they are playing.

Artwork Analysis:
The whole picture is carried out in S-curve shape, the arrangement and combination of six circles, six lines and six children. The orientation, bending, and movement posture of the child’s movements are different, and the standing posture of the child’s sight is also different. Western painters also hold a similar view, thinking that composition is the art of properly arranging various elements for the painter to express emotions, according to the decorative meaning. In a painting, each separate part should be clearly seen, and each should occupy the most proper place, whether primary or secondary. The reason why Chinese ink paintings sometimes reveal a peaceful and elegant atmosphere is that the background of the picture is not painted with color is an important factor. Therefore, the “blank space” of the painting can set off and harmonize the colors. It can make the brushwork generous and have room for maneuver, can symbolize the background and omit redundant objects; it can communicate the context, dredge the breath, reveal the emotion, and make the spirit happy, which is also very useful.

After bath
2008
Silk scroll、Colored ink
117 x 70 cm

Inscription:
You will show me the way of life, fullness of joy before you, eternal happiness at your right hand.

Creative Philosophy:
After the bath is the most relaxed moment for the child. Without any restraint, he starts his game with the bath towel by himself, sometimes hides in the bath towel, sometimes opens it and drills out, and starts his game. creativity.

Artwork Analysis:
This painting is in a dynamic direction, thus making the picture imbued with vitality and full of dynamics, just like the rhythm and melody in a movement, so as to resonate with the viewers.

Safety
2008
Silk scroll、Colored ink
173 x 88 cm

Inscription:
Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways trust him, and he will make your paths straight.

Creative Philosophy:
We respect children so that they can give full play to their characteristics at all stages. But don’t forget to stop children’s foolishness and mischief. Opportunity education is the most effective way. Following the development of children’s nature and personality, it is the greatest responsibility of parents to provide them with the knowledge they need. Don’t put young children in dangerous places. It is impossible for young children to live alone in the society of adults. He needs to rely on the assistance of adults to grow up smoothly. Letting children understand what is dangerous to them is a way to protect them. If it is expressed in words, children cannot understand it yet, and actual actions will deepen their impression.

Artwork Analysis:
The so-called “sparse and dense” refers to separation and density, that is, looseness and gathering, gathering and scattering. Just like the slow and slow board in music, density and density should be relative, and the two are mixed together, and they are organically adjusted to each other, so that density and density are sparse and natural.

love never stops
2008
Silk scroll、Colored ink
180 x 95 cm

Creative Philosophy:
The motion postures described in paintings are actually created based on the visual memory of motion postures captured in a short period of time. Love is never ending cursive fonts and children’s movements, with streamlined lines to frame the picture.

Artwork Analysis:
Combination of painting and calligraphy Calligraphy and painting both pay attention to the use of the rhythm of the lines, the ingenuity of the wrist and the skill of using the brush are interlinked.
The whiteness of the picture is also often where the energy is, and where the dragon veins come out. The so-called air movement refers to the air that is formed in one breath. The air that writes and executes the air, it is better to be able to penetrate, look around, and reflect the belt up, down, left, and right. The focus of the painter’s spirit lies in the air. The machine is the structure of the painting, the movement of the brush and ink, the ingenious connection, and the spiritual tacit understanding. One pen is full of spirit and can be complete.

Apple
2008
Silk scroll、Colored ink
116 x 70 cm

Inscription:
Children are an inheritance from the LORD, and the womb is a reward from him.

Creative Philosophy:
The child’s movement is extremely graceful, and the red of the apple and the green of the bushes show the beauty of the child’s skin color when naked.

Artwork Analysis:
No matter what shape, there will be a force axis in the direction, and this force axis will limit the movement direction of the object. If there is a figure in a picture, there is an axis in its body shape, and the axis indicates the direction of the force. A standing figure indicates the force in the vertical direction; A recumbent figure shows movement in the horizontal direction. The axes of the form sometimes hold two opposite directions, the forces looking up and looking down in the figure, which pull each other to create a balanced force.

Inscription:
He told me that my grace is sufficient for you, because my power is perfected in man’s weakness, so I prefer to boast of my own weakness so that the power of Christ can cover me.

Creative Philosophy:
In a small swimming pool, children can form a society by themselves. They help each other, support each other, and connect with each other with love.

Artwork Analysis:
Use the S-shaped trend to make the whole painting full of dynamic composition. The composition of the S-curve is vivid and elegant, and it can also bring us a sense of movement.
