Morning of Camphor Tree Forest

The use of backlighting in the forest, as well as the increasing heaviness of the strokes in the foreground create a field of depth that is further enhanced by the hilly landscape and fog.

The Bank of the River

Mt. Hehuan

The falling snow and running water of the stream symbolize the unstopping flow of time, expressing the impermanence of life. The painting was intentionally done in low saturation in order to bring attention to the plum tree, which is surviving despite its harsh conditions.

Autumn Shore

Autumn is the season of harvest and nostalgia; a poetic season of wealth and sadness. Although fall causes a sort of seasonal depression, there is profound beauty to the fall scenery.

Glimpses Down the Path

The painting shows a scene of nature which appears almost virtual, as the color and form of the sky shift and change. The dark background of the scene gives the effect of bass notes, while the bright white grass in the center adds an element of mystery.

Light

This painting is based on the Bible excerpt 4:13-17, which states that the future righteous man will meet god. The painting depicts a scene amongst the clouds, where the light penetrates the clouds, representing the holy light which illuminates all. As the worshippers say, light is the Tao, light is truth, and light is power.
