The painting is entitled: “The Exchange”, and it is the artist’s self portrait, deliberately executed incompletely. It is an exploration of the Biblical doctrine of the Imago Dei, where the human being is seen as an artefact made and remade by God, in the image of God. The additional dimension in this case is that – the artist recognizes that she is created with creative gifts and can participate in God’s greater work in the world that He has made.
