Ironing Pad, Furniture Protector and Interior Paint on Foam

110*45CM

entering out, exiting in

entering out, exiting in” is a pair of artworks inspired by an ironing pad. It is a common household item used for lining the surface of an ironing board. It has a shiny surface that is heat resistant and an inner foam that gives it flexibility.

I took it apart and re-presented them on a board carved after the shape of an ironing board. I was interested in re-contextualizing it in a format where that it could be seen in a different orientation and be appreciated for qualities beyond its given functions.

The ironing pad that was made to be encountered horizontally can now be seen face to face in entering out, exiting in. The shape of its curved border that was meant for easing the slotting of clothes now alludes to that of old church windows. The yellow foam that was hidden under the ironing pad has come to view and can be seen shimmering under the light.
