The Performance
Paul said this in 1 Corinthians 4: 9:
For I think that God has exhibited us apostles as last of all, like men sentenced to death, because we have become a spectacle to the world, to angels, and to men.
This is a irony, lamenting people is like audience, and Paul is like a prisoner and an actor, performing for dignity and the gospel. In terms of actors, Paul did complete a dramatic drama, and interpreted the gospel script to the fullest. The work of the gospel is the manifestation of inner faith, through a variety of cultures and lifestyles to make the world understand.
“The Performace” was inspired by this verse and the sacrament. The holy communion ritual recreates the scene of Jesus ’Last Supper, through the symbol of bread and grape juice as well as the rituals and body language, experiencing the fellowship in the Lord across time and space. This is a performance, but it is not a show of hypocrisy, but a manifestation of faith and life.
The appearance and costume of the traditional drama niche symbolize the form of indigenous culture and bear the mysteries of the gospel. At this moment, it seemed as though the pastor took the bread and announced to the believers:
Jesus said,’ This is my body which is given for you. Do this in remembrance of me. ‘
The holy communion to commemorate Jesus becomes a common faith confession of believers.
The sacramental bread are expressed as “five loaves and two fishes”, which shows that they also have the meaning of sharing and abundance. The miracle of “Five Loaves and Two Fishes” goes beyond the limits of human nature and knowledge and ability, so that people see more possibilities, and the sacrament also expresses the length and depth of God. The colors of the bread are represent the “five elements”, gold is white, wood is green, water is black, fire is red, and earth is yellow. These substances are contained in all things created by God.
Growing
Many times Jesus made parables with wheat and seeds to illustrate the growth of the kingdom of heaven. Taiwan does not grow wheat. If the native crop is used to translate Jesus ’ parable, rice should be the best example. But I replaced the wheat that Jesus said with other Taiwan agricultural products, and the image of plentiful of fruit was just joyful. This work is about the growing banana. The fruit is not yet ripe, but it will soon be harvested. The Kingdom of Heaven is just like this, which may grow thousands of times, so we should have hope and be patient.

The fish 2009-2
“Fish” is a symbol of Christian or Christianity. The Greek word “fish” (ἰχθύς) happens to be composed of the initials of the five words “Jesus, Christ, God, Son, Savior”. The early church used it as a symbol to express faith and Christian identity.
This work takes the religious connotation of “fish”, in memory of the courage of the early Christians to live for their faith, and their commitment, so that the Roman Empire that originally persecuted the church finally surrendered to Christ, and the gospel spread to the “the end of earth.”

Our daily bread
Occasionally, I saw cats eating and drinking, leisurely and comfortable. This picture reminds me of the prayer Jesus taught:
Give us this day our daily bread. (Matthew 6:11)
A meal that happy and sufficient makes people “on earth as in heaven.” This is an aspect of “the kingdom of heaven.”

The Gospel Bell of Tamsui
This is the bell used by the Tamsui Presbyterian Church since 1915. It is made in the United States. The words “YORK” and “No. 30” are cast on the face of the bell. The famous Taiwanese ballad “Tamsui Twilight” describes the church bells ringing and being heard on the sea. During World War II, the bell was used as a siren for US air strikes. It was later shot down, damaged and scrapped. It is now moved to the church gate to witness the Christian gospel development for more than a hundred years.

A Little Oil Lamp
Jesus said, ” Ye are the light of the world. A city set on a hill cannot be hid. Neither do men light a lamp, and put it under the bushel, but on the stand; and it shineth unto all that are in the house.” (Matthew 5:14-15)
The Jewish oil lamp will not be very bright, but as long as there is light and it can drive away the darkness. Jesus so encouraged disciples to be the light of the world.

A Sunday morning
The resurrection of Jesus is the most important part of the Christian faith, and reveal the hope that mankind in pursuit of eternity and meaning of life. Based on this theological concept, this work expresses the contrast of light and shadow, implying the victory of light driving out darkness, so the Christian church uses the day of Jesus’ resurrection as the day of worship. The Asian face of Jesus is very different from the traditional Western art that gives Christ the shape. In theology or art, it emphasizes the idea of indigenization and proclaims that the Christian faith should be implemented in the local culture.

The Death of a wheat seed
Jesus said, ” Truly, truly, I say to you, unless a grain of wheat falls into the earth and dies, it remains alone; but if it dies, it bears much fruit.” (John 12:24)
It pointed out sacrifice, dedication can cause the growth of heaven. This also refers to the transformation of life, which is the key to growth and fruitfulness.

Silence
This is a church in Vienna. I sat on a bench and made a prayer, and I felt very peaceful. The paint on the benches has worn away, revealing the traces of countless people praying and worshipping here. This is the visual phenomenon that I want to convey, but going deeper, this scene made my heart suddenly very touched. At this moment everything was silent in the church, I was silent, and God was silent. Without the voice of the world, you can listen to the God.

To be chosen
This piece expresses in order to perform the substance and light of the screw piles, metaphor valuable of each human existence, since be chosen as a significant part, must work hard and play functions. This inspiration came from John 15:16. Jesus said to his disciples:
You did not choose me, but I chose you and appointed you that you should go and bear fruit and that your fruit should abide; so that whatever you ask the Father in my name, he may give it to you.
In this way Jesus explained that power comes from God, so that the disciples will not be too arrogant or inferior when facing challenges.
